Welcome to the Plainfield Public School District’s Office of Early Childhood Education. We are committed to valuing diversity and providing equitable, high quality early learning experiences through health and academic education, family strengthening, and supporting social-emotional well-being that will prepare our students for a seamless transition from Preschool through 3rd grade.



Eligibility
Three and four-year old children living in the city of Plainfield whose birthday comes on or before October 1st of the enrolling school year are entitled to free preschool. Students are offered 6 hours of instruction for 180 days. Wrap Around services between the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 8:05 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. are based upon parent eligibility.

Preschool Registration
Plainfield Public Schools Early Childhood Programs & Services provides ongoing preschool registration Tuesday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The office entrance is located at 504 Madison Ave, Plainfield, NJ. The following documents are required to register:

  • Child’s original birth certificate Child must be 3 or 4 years old by October 1st of that school year. If you are the legal guardian or foster parent, you must bring your ID letter or legal documents for verification.
  • Proof of Plainfield Residence Current PSE&G, Water, Home Telephone or cable bills. If the bills are not in your name, bring a notarized letter signed by the person you live with and one of their utility bills and any official mail in your name received at that address.
