OVERVIEW
The Plainfield Public School District is located in
Plainfield, NJ. Plainfield is a
culturally vibrant town located 30 miles southwest of New York, NY,
historically known as “The Queen City”.
Families are attracted to the City’s suburban rich historically
preserved picturesque homes that have garnered national attention. The District serves an ethnically diverse and growing
population of approximately 8,238 students. The District has one K-8 school,
eight (8) elementary schools, two middle schools, one (1) comprehensive high
school, one (1) performing arts high school, one credit recovery program and (14)
early childhood centers. We believe in our motto: Champions for Students.

PLAINFIELD PUBLIC SCHOOLS 2022 CELEBRATIONS:

The Pinnacle Academy has welcome students to its alternative high school program that will provide students in grades 9-12 the opportunity to succeed in a supportive, yet challenging, educational environment that meets the individual needs of every child.
The Plainfield Academy for Arts & Advanced Studies (PAAAS) named Best High Schools in New Jersey by U.S. News & World Report’s 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 & 2022, PAAAS also earned the Great Schools 2020 College Success Award
Plainfield Public Schools is excited to partner with Kean University and the Kean Scholar Academy to admit our first eight students. These students will earn college credit during their four years of high school. They will receive enrichment and support from the Scholar Academy during their high school years to ensure they have a successful college experience upon graduation.
Plainfield Public School is excited to partner with the Raritan Valley NJ Chapter of the Links Incorporated to bring professionals in the field of Health and Science to our middle school student body. The students will have the opportunity to collaborate with these professionals to gain firsthand experiences.
Twenty female students in grades six to eight will be mentored by the Association of Black Women Lawyers of New Jersey as part of their Legacy Realized Program. The program is being launched as part of the Associations partnership with Plainfield Public Schools.
We are working daily with our staff, students, and community to improve our academic programs. We have increased our staffing to support the changing demographics. Professional development of staff to ensure they have the latest pedagogical skills to meet the needs of our students.
PLAINFIELD PUBLIC SCHOOLS CURRICULUM:
The curriculum of the Plainfield Public School District is
consistent with the educational goals and objectives of the District and the
New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS).
The Plainfield Board of Education is
committed to the continuing improvement of the educational program of the
District including the ongoing curriculum evaluations and modification in
response to students' needs.
Upon completion of High School from
the Plainfield Public School District, students will have received the
following:
- Preparation for employment or
post-secondary study through our Career Counseling Center and Guidance
department to assist in career and academic planning
- Programs that encourage the
active involvement of representatives from the community, business,
industry, labor, and higher education in the development of educational
programs aligned with the standards;
- Instruction in language arts
literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, world languages, visual
and performing arts, comprehensive health and physical education, and
workplace readiness skills;
- A continuum of educational
programs and services for children with disabilities;
- Bilingual education, English as
a Second Language, and English language services for pupils of limited
English language proficiency;
- Programs and services for
pupils at risk who require remedial assistance and educational
opportunities for students with exceptional abilities; and
- Equal educational opportunities
for all.
