Dear PVCA Families,

As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, it reminds me of the gratitude that I have for our PVCA community. When there are needs our PVCA family never fails to provide the necessary assistance and comfort; your efforts are tireless and we thank you. I pray each of you has a much needed and deserved restful and blessed time with your families over the Thanksgiving break.

When the students return next week, we will be hosting our 4th annual Giving Tuesday event on Tuesday, December 3. Giving Tuesday is a global day dedicated to encouraging acts of kindness and generosity. It presents the perfect opportunity for us to come together as a school family and make a meaningful impact.

This year, we invite each of you to participate in Giving Tuesday in ways that are meaningful to you. Whether through a financial donation or simply lifting our school and community in prayer, every gesture of support is valued and appreciated.

This Giving Tuesday, we are hoping to raise $75,000 to help us achieve a milestone of $450,000 by December 31. Your gift, no matter the size, provides financial aid, enhances programs, and ensures that PVCA remains a place where faith and learning thrive.

We encourage you to login to Facebook on Tuesday, December 3rd from 7:00AM-9:00PM to view our LIVE content, interviews with families and alumni, and prerecorded student messages.
Have a blessed Thanksgiving,

Caroline

Author Megan Hill will visit and read her latest book,

Fritz and the Midnight Meetup, to grades Kindergarten – Grade 2

Tuesday, November 19

One by one, the children tiptoe down the stairs…

It’s midnight at the orphanage, and a group of children are sneaking to the kitchen to pray together. Would anyone else come too? they wonder. Night after night, more children join the fireside prayer meeting. But a bully named Fritz threatens to disrupt the group. When he sneaks down to scare the other children, will Fritz be the one who is surprised?

In this heartwarming story, readers will share the excitement as the boys and girls creep down the dark stairs, and they will feel the tension of the bully’s threats. But most of all they will discover the difference children can make when they pray together. Based on a true story from a German orphanage in 1860, Fritz and the Midnight Meetup celebrates the blessing of corporate prayer—and how children play a valuable part.

Purchase a signed copy of Fritz and the Midnight Meetup by clicking on the button below.

*Special PVCA price of $8.00. All orders must be placed by Wednesday, November 13.

Pioneer Valley Christian Academy Named to Advanced Placement School Honor Roll

PVCA has been recognized for student success in Advanced Placement program while broadening access.

Massachusetts– College Board announced that Pioneer Valley Christian Academy has been named to the 2024 Advanced Placement® Program (AP®) School Honor Roll, earning GOLD distinction. The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools whose AP programs are delivering results for students while broadening access. Schools can earn this recognition annually based on criteria that reflect a commitment to increasing college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness.

PVCA had 93% of seniors who took at least one AP Exam during high school, 80% of seniors scoring a 3 or higher on at least one AP Exam, and 13% of seniors who took five or more AP Exams!

  • PVCA offers eight AP Courses
  • Nine sections are taught at PVCA
  • There are five PVCA teachers teaching AP

“This is an incredible achievement for PVCA and an honor worth recognizing and celebrating. I’m so grateful for this school and for school leaders and educators who daily live out our school’s mission to know Truth, pursue academic excellence, and live with integrity.”- Mrs. Meredith O’Hara, PVCA Guidance Counselor

“AP gives students opportunity to engage with college-level work, to earn college credit and placement, and to potentially boost their grade point averages,” said Trevor Packer, head of the AP program. “The schools that have earned this distinction are proof that it is possible to expand access to these college-level courses and still drive strong performance – they represent the best of AP.”

Pioneer Valley Christian Academy is one of New England’s private Christian schools located in Springfield, MA. We offer students access to cutting-edge opportunities for intellectual, professional, and leadership development to address the increasingly complex challenges of a global society. Pioneer Valley Christian Academy stands apart from other outstanding schools in New England by combining an exceptional education with Christian faith.

College Board’s Advanced Placement® Program (AP®) enables students to pursue college-level studies—with the opportunity to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both—while still in high school. Through AP courses in 38 subjects, each culminating in a challenging exam, students learn to think critically, construct solid arguments, and see many sides of an issue—skills that prepare them for college and beyond.

On Friday, October 11, PVCA will host Grandparents’ Day. If your child does not have a grandparent, they are permitted to have a special friend attend. Parents are not permitted to attend due to a lack of space/seating. However, parent volunteers are needed to help run the event.

What Parents Need To Know About Grandparents’ Day Chapel

  • Grandparents’ Day Chapel is Friday, October 11, 9:30-11:30AM
  • Invitations will not be mailed out to grandparents. Please check your student’s backpack for a printed invitation on Thursday, September 26, or use the digital invites below.
  • Register attending grandparents. See below.
  • Questions? Contact Caroline Funchion at cfunchion@pvcama.org

LOWER SCHOOL – GRANDPARENTS’ DAY INVITATION &  REGISTRATION

Grandparent’s Day is Friday, October 11th. Grandparents of lower school (PK-Grade 5) students should arrive by 9:30AM to enjoy coffee and refreshments. The program will run from 10:00-11:15AM. There will be an all school early dismissal that day to allow for attending grandparents to spend the remainder of the day with their grandchildren. In an effort to streamline our pick-up time that day, please fill out the form in the link below no later than Wednesday, October 9

UPPER SCHOOL ONLY- HOMEROOM VISITS &  REGISTRATION

Grandparents of UPPER SCHOOL STUDENTS ONLY – GRADES 6-12, have the option of arriving at 9:00AM to attend a homeroom visit where they will sit with their grandchildren and play a game of trivia.**

**We understand that all grandparents would love to visit their grandchild’s classroom, but unfortunately, this isn’t possible at this time due to limited space in the lower school classrooms. Since most upper school students do not participate in the Grandparents’ Day Chapel, we have arranged homeroom visits instead. This way, grandparents of upper school students can still enjoy some special time with their grandchild.
