Auditions
Audition Process
Audition music will be printed out and handed out to the students in orchestra class for those that are interested in auditioning. Students will have a week to practice and prepare their music and have the option of asking the advisor any questions about the music. The advisor will not be able to critique the students on their performance of the music before the auditions. Students will meet after school in one of the music rooms on the day of auditions. The students will warm-up with their instruments for 5 minutes and the advisor will review the process with everyone. Students will be given an audition paper to fill out that asks about contact information, music experience, schedule conflicts during the week, etc. One by one, students will enter in a separate room with the teacher and perform their specified audition music. The students can perform it no more than two times for the advisor. After the auditions, the teacher will post the results on the Orchestra Board in the music hallway the next day.
Audition Requirements:
- Scale: Teacher will select one of the following scales for students to perform- D, G, C major.
- Sight-reading: Teacher will present one sight-reading exercise. Students will have one minute to prepare, then perform the excerpt once.
- Performance: Students will prepare and perform an excerpt from the audition piece previously assigned.
