Matilda

by Roald Dahl Year Published: 1988

Matilda is an inexplicable book.  Matilda is about a little girl who is treated unfairly in her house and who is gifted with a very special talent. Matilda could multiply big numbers and read Dickens by the age of five. Her parents don't really care much about education, nor Matilda. When Matilda's father finally sends her to school, Matilda finds out that the headmistress, Ms. Trunchbull, is a MONSTER! But her teacher, Ms. Honey, is as sweet as -you know what's coming- honey!

Matilda then finds out that she can do something even more than multiply and read adult novels. Then she finds out a huge secret. Matilda knows that she must use her special talent to defeat the evil Trunchbull, and get someone she loves dearly back on track!

Matilda is for all you fantasy lovers. I'd say this book is good for 9-12 years old and if you're in grade 3-7 this book is just right for you! You can, of course, read this for your own pleasure as well. There are 240 pages in this book, but every single page will grasp you. Matilda is a funny story if I do say so myself. And don't even get me started on the illustrations by Quentin Blake! Matilda is an amazing story that should be read by everyone. Matilda is a book you cannot skip! It warms your heart, makes you laugh, and it makes you want to be a better student and person.  You have to read Matilda by Roald Dahl!    Reviewed 10/7/16 by Alexis Fernandes
