What time does school start and end?
The first bell rings at 8:35. Students are officially tardy at 8:40
On early dismissal days, students will be released at 1:00.
What are the prices for breakfast and lunch?
Breakfast is Free for all students.
Lunch is $2.20
How do I contact my child's teacher(s)?
There
are several ways that you can contact your child's teacher. You may
email the teacher(s), you may call the school at 713-740-5230 and leave a
message for the teacher to call you, or you may schedule a conference
by calling the school and speaking to Mrs. Besselman, the counselor's
clerk.
How can I keep track of what is going on at school?
Our
school website is constantly updated. You can subscribe to our site to
receive an RSS feed and be reminded of upcoming events. We also send
out a weekly newsletter called the Colts Chronicle. At various times there are also call outs made with our automated phone
system to remind parents of important events. In addition, notes go
home weekly in the student's Thursday folder.
Are students allowed to use the Internet at school?
Students
will have the opportunity to use school computers during class time for
school related work. Students must follow district guidelines
regarding proper use of the internet and computers. Any student
violating these guidelines will receive appropriate consequences which
could include the loss of all computer privileges.
Are there any special awards or programs for students?
Yes, in effort to maintain high expectations of student performance, our campus offers the following awards:
Honor Roll :
Students who excel in their classes may be eligible for the Honor Roll
compiled each grading period. To be named to the Honor Roll, middle
school students must have a grade point average of at least 3.71 with no
grade below a B. Grades in all classes are used to determine who
qualifies for Honor Roll. A grade adjust is made for honors classes
when determining Honor Roll. In addition, all student must not have a
conduct grade below a C.
Presidential Academic Award :
The Presidential Academic Award program is coordinated by the United
States Department of Education. Criteria for receipt of this award is
established yearly, and information is available from the counselor.
Academic Excellence :
To be honored for Academic Excellence, students must make a yearly
average of A in each subject. Conduct grades are not used in
determining this award. A grade adjustment is made for honors/pre-ap
classes when determining Academic Excellence.
Certificates :
Certificates of merit or certificates of recognition may be given to
students for achievement in academic and special activities as well as
attendance.
