Contest season has finally arrived for the Dobie Lariaettes as they had their first contest on Saturday, Feb. 16 at Clear Lake High School and another this past weekend.
The performances consisted of jazz, hip hop, lyrical ensemble, team kick, team pom, and jazz troupe.
“We’ve been working hard everyday at practice and making sure everything is on point,” said senior Lariaette Gisselle Guerra.
The Lariaettes are coming off a successful contest season last year and look to improve this year.
The Lariaettes showed out at Clear Lake High School as they placed first in Jazz and Kick and second place for pom. Overall, the Dobie Lariaettes placed 1st in runner up team and officer group.
Awards won this past weekend in Galveston include solo winner Hannah Woernley, solo finalist Hallie Nelms, medium ensemble championship, 2nd runner-up for lyrical ensemble, the Biogime sportsmanship award, officer sweepstakes, overall sweepstakes and Gussie Nell team, the judges' award for officer jazz, team jazz, team kick, lyrical officers, team pom, and many more, including a seventh place overall finish.
