District News  Four community volunteers with more than 50 years of combined service in Pasadena ISD schools were honored Tuesday night as district Adult Volunteers of the Year.
  Named as Adult Volunteers of the Year for the elementary school campuses were Richard Lay, Emily Walker and Noelia Ayala. Amy Michele Day was honored as Adult Volunteer of the Year for secondary campuses.
  Monument Chevrolet and TOLA Financial received awards as Outstanding Business Volunteers of the Year for large and small businesses, respectively. Honored individuals in the business category were Carroll Smith of Monument Chevrolet and Jesse Gonzalez of TOLA Financial.
  The award for Outstanding Organization Volunteer of the Year went to Jorga Wright of the Pasadena Area Retired Teachers Association.
  Also honored for their volunteer work were one elementary student, one high school student and one college student. Pomeroy Elementary's Jennifer Pena was honored for volunteer efforts in multiple campus projects. Sam Rayburn High's Karina St. John received an award for amassing nearly 6,000 volunteer hours over the past four years.
  Memorial High graduate Colton Hinson, now at the University of Houston, was honored for his contributions to various Fine Arts productions at Memorial.
  Lay, a 1967 South Houston High graduate and a Lyondell employee, has volunteered in HOSTS programs at Kruse, South Shaver and Morales elementary schools for the past 20 years.
  Walker began her volunteer work in the Stuchbery Elementary library in 1993 while still a student at Dobie High. Ayala has provided volunteer services at Teague Elementary the past four years. She was an active volunteer at Sparks Elementary and other district campuses before that.
  Day has served as a volunteer in the district's Omega program for the severely disabled since her graduation from Sam Rayburn in 2006.
  Monument Chevrolet was honored for its annual donations to support the annual all-school musical at Sam Rayburn High.
  Gonzalez has served on the Site-Based Decision Making Committee at Williams Elementary. His donations of time and resources to the school have benefited both students and staff.
  Wright helped launch the HOSTS program at Morales and also serves as a mentor at the school.
  Presentations were made at the regular June meeting of the Board of Trustees at the Administration Building on Tuesday night.
