January is School Board Recognition Month and Pasadena ISD is joining 1,024 school districts throughout the state of Texas in celebrating the contributions of the district’s seven-member board, Superintendent of Schools Dr. DeeAnn Powell announced Tuesday, Jan. 5.

“Our school board members are volunteers who work tirelessly to make decisions with the best interest of our district, students, and staff. Their goal is always focused on the future success of the children in our district,” Dr. Powell said. “Celebrating School Board Recognition Month is one way to say thanks for all they do.”

Recent achievements of the Board of Trustees and Pasadena ISD include:

-TCEA’s 2021 School Board of the Year;
-TAEA District of Distinction, 2020;

-
and 13 Pasadena ISD campuses named Gold Ribbon Schools.

Board members serving Pasadena ISD are: Vickie Morgan, President, 35 years of service; Mariselle Quijano, Vice President, 12 years of service; Fred Roberts, Secretary, 28 years of service; Nelda Sullivan, Assistant Secretary, 28 years of service; Jack Bailey, Member, 11 years of service; Kenny Fernandez, Member, six years of service; and Marshall Kendrick, Member, 32 years of service.

“It’s more important than ever before that communities support public education so that today’s students are prepared to be productive citizens and the leaders of tomorrow.
