Invesco Cares, the corporate stewardship department of the international investment management firm Invesco, has donated $6,000 to Thomas Hancock Elementary.
The funds will be used to provide enrichment opportunities for students and to purchase supplies and resources for the school. In addition to the monetary donation provided by Invesco, the firm also donated 400 backpacks and various school supplies to the campus. The donation of backpacks comes as many families in the Houston area and across the country are struggling to make ends meet due to Covid-19 related workforce reductions.
“We are grateful for this donation,” said Veronica Sandoval, principal of Hancock Elementary. “It not only provides our students with essential supplies, but also peace of mind to our parents.”
Hancock Elementary distributed the backpacks to students participating in face-to-face instruction earlier this month. The school plans on holding a backpack distribution for Hancock students participating in virtual instruction on October 1.
“On behalf of our school family and our school district, we are so grateful for Invesco Cares,” said Sandoval.
