Twenty-one child guidance and education training students throughout Pasadena ISD will advance to the TAFE Teach Tomorrow Summit in Allen, February 28- March 2, after competing at the regional competition.
The summit challenges students aspiring to be teachers in various contests, including bulletin board creation, scrapbook creation, educational leadership, children's literature, ethics, impromptu lecturing, mock job interviews, lesson planning and delivery.
Child guidance and education training teachers across the district expressed pride in their students' accomplishments.
"This is the first time in three years that students have competed in TAFE competitions at SRHS," said Carissa Haynes, Rayburn H.S. education training teacher. "With no prior knowledge of events or competitions, these hardworking, exceptional students were able to successfully create projects that qualified them for state."
"This is only our second year to participate in TAFE," said Vanessa Martin, Lewis CTHS child guidance teacher. "One of the things that I am most proud of is that three of our six teams that qualified for state competition are only juniors this year. So it will be exciting to see what they are able to accomplish next year."
"I admire all of the hard work these student put into these competitions," said Kelly Hollins, South Houston H.S. education training and child guidance teacher. "They planned and executed state-worthy competition pieces and fund-raised to pay for all of the fees, hotels and meals that they will need."
