Pasadena ISD recently held its annual district spelling bee, in February, with students from each elementary and intermediate campus participating.
During the fall semester, elementary and intermediate schools hosted individual spelling bees at the campus level. Each school selected one student to move on and compete in the district-level competition. Prior to competing in the district competition, campus-level winners were provided with a list of 4,000 words to study ahead of time.
The competition format was different this year to prevent the potential spread of COVID. The Scripps National Spelling Bee developed an online platform to allow schools to administer their spelling bees virtually.
Two students, Stephanie Torres of San Jacinto Intermediate and Hannah Nguyen of Beverly Hills Intermediate, earned invitations to the 2021 Houston Public Media Spelling Bee held on March 9.
We are so proud of our district champions!
