The Kids Charity made stops to Kruse Elementary, De Zavala Middle, Jackson Intermediate and Pasadena High School to deliver winter coats for students.
Christmas came early for Kruse Elementary, De Zavala Middle, Jackson Intermediate and Pasadena High School students after some of Santa’s helpers from The Kids Charity delivered a truckload of winter coats on Thursday, Dec. 5.
Since 2009, The Kids Charity has been dedicated to helping improve the lives of students living in the greater Houston area. One of their major charitable efforts, Coats for Kids, provides warm winter clothing for students just before Christmas.
During the season of giving, a gracious team from the local non-profit organization delivered nearly 200 jackets to students and $1,500 in cash to Pasadena ISD - all in one day.
“We try to reach as many as we can," Terrence Thomas, president of The Kids Charity said. "We started in 2009 and this year we are going to help our 750th child. So we’re near that one thousandth mark and hopefully we will get bigger and help more kids every year.
We love doing it - the kids love it – they appreciate it. Thank you for having us in Pasadena ISD. We appreciate it and we hope this is a long partnership that we can continue for the kids. That’s really where our passion is.”
The timing was perfect. The following day, Southeast Texas was hit with extremely chilly winds, with temps in the 30s and 40s.
“We are very grateful for Mr. Thomas," said Kimberly Urie, De Zavala Intermediate School principal. "With the weather changing and turning cold, our students are very fortunate to have people in their lives who are willing to give of themselves so that they are taken care of during these times."
