Pasadena ISD school nurses Stacy Huntley (Moore Elementary), Nikki Seymour (Teague Elementary) and Mary Ann Smith (Turner Elementary) will be honored alongside the top nurses of Houston during the Houston Chronicle’s annual
Salute to Nurses celebration.
They will join 150 Houston area nurses at a luncheon hosted by the Chronicle on Thursday, May 2. They will then be featured in a special section in the Sunday edition of the paper on May 5, just in time to kick off National Nurse Week.
The Chronicle named Huntley a Top 15 Nurse.
“I am humbled and honored to be chosen as a top 15 nurse as it is truly a privilege to do what I do,” said Huntley. “I strive daily to serve and make a difference to the students and staff in my care and share this honor with my nursing staff for I could not be all that I am without their support.”
Seymour and Smith were both named as Top 150 nurses.
“I feel extremely honored to have been selected and nominated as one of the Houston Chronicle’s top 150 nurses,” said Seymour. “Taking care of others has always been my life’s ambition, and to be able to impact so many students here at Teague Elementary has made being a school nurse something that I look forward to doing each morning.”
“A person does not enter nursing for the glory,” added Smith. “It is because they have the heart of a servant and a desire to make life better for all people, one patient at a time-- so I am honored to be included in such an elite group of professionals.”
Since 2000, the Chronicle has solicited nominations from the public to recognize outstanding area nurses.
