State Rep. Ana Hernandez Inspires Sam Rayburn Students
State Rep. Ana Hernandez stopped by Sam Rayburn High to share an inspiring story about how her education helped her accomplish her life-long goals. The Rayburn High graduate, Class of ’95, is one of nine distinguished alums selected for the school’s new Hall of Honor.
Born in Reynosa, Mexico, and raised in Pasadena, she graduated with honors from Sam Rayburn when she was 16 years old. By the time she was 25, she had graduated from the University of Texas School of Law. Barely a year after that, she was serving in the Texas House of Representatives for District 143.
“Take advantage of opportunities when the door is open,” she said. “That is what I did when I ran for office. I was not expecting that at age 26, right out of law school with student loans while working full time, that I would be running for office. But I went for it anyway.”
Rayburn recently celebrated their 50th Anniversary and inducted the first group of alumni and former teachers into the Hall of Honor. To read her full bio, click here http://www1.pasadenaisd.org/cms/One.aspx?portalId=80772&pageId=3415942
