A Funny Thing Happened - Future Teacher?
I was teaching a small group of students math and a few more kids wanted to join us because they were confused. Two of the girls, who are rocking it in math, asked if they could help so I said, “Sure. You two set up at the back table and run your own small group.”
A few minutes later, I hear my super-sweet, quiet and helpful child speaking to the students. “Oh my gosh! You know, if you would just listen when I speak, you wouldn’t be confused! I JUST told you that!”
I quickly reminded her to use positive, peer words when she is speaking to the students.
Two minutes later, the other sweet girl stands up and says, “That’s it. I quit. I don’t know how Mrs. Cooke does this all day. You all just don’t listen. Stop playing with that. Put it down. No - don’t talk. Just stop!”
