Magnet Description

The Engineering, Science and Technology (EST) Magnet is designed to provide students with academically rigorous and meaningful experiences in engineering and computer-based design. Engineering majors complete curriculum from Pathways to Engineering progression developed by Project Lead the Way and Embry-Riddle University’s Aerospace Engineering Career Academy, leading to college credit. Technology majors will delve into the world of 3D Animation, Graphic Design or Gaming and Simulation Programming and have the opportunity to earn up to six separate industry certifications. EST students will work in teams on the EST STEAM project which simulates the research, development and marketing aspects of the modern engineering and technology company. This curriculum, as well as our business and academic partners, expose our students to the industry and prepare them for a future career in engineering, architecture, technology and design. Students throughout the Orange County School District may apply for this program. Participating students enter the program as freshmen and a limited number may enter as sophomores.

Please note that bus transportation is not provided for this program.

Specific Eligibility Requirements: Applicant’s schedule must be able to accommodate magnet classes; a 3.0 GPA and successful completion of Algebra I is recommended.
