The Office of Business Opportunity (OBO) hosts an annual MWBE/LDB/VBE Trade Fair each year.
The annual event offers a forum for attendees to meet and network with contractors and others firms that are bidding on and/or working on OCPS projects. Local minority business support organizations, such as the African American and Hispanic Chambers, Black Business Investment (BBIF) and Prospera formerly (HBIF), and the Florida State Minority Supplier Development Council (FSMSDC) among others are also exhibitors at the event; providing current information about their programs and services provided to support minority, veterans and small businesses.
During the event, mini workshops are made available to the attendees on various subjects to provide practical information to help vendors to do business with the district.
Based on responses from attendees and the overall attendance, the annual event continues to be a local favorite of the minority, veterans and small business construction and goods and services community for the opportunities provided as well as the location and duration. Although, officially hosted by the Office of Business Opportunity, the event owes its success to the participation and support of the contractors and district staff.
