REGULAR MEETING

The Northwest Allen County Board of School Trustees met in regular session on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in the Perry Hill Elementary School Cafeteria. Members present: Mary Wysong, John Hilger, Paul Sloffer, Ron Felger and Kent Somers. Also present: Chris Himsel, Gloria Shamanoff, Bill Mallers, Lisa Harris, staff, students, patrons and reporters.

Motions herewith mentioned are unanimousunless otherwise stated.

President Mary Wysong called the meeting to order. Motion to approve the minutes of the May12, 2014 regular meeting as presented by Paul Sloffer; seconded by Ron Felger. Motion carried.

COMMENDATIONS

Dr. Shamanoff presented the following commendations:

Carroll Middle School Students, Allison Shank, earned a National Scholastic Art Awardand Sara Ahmad, earned a National Scholastic Writing Award.

Carroll Middle School Students, Sophie Kamler, Chloe Ashcroft, Hannah Schreiber, Kelly Thomas, Emily Larson, MaKayla Hansen, Hannah Walker, Alexis Barcelona, Patrick Bragg, and Michon Held earned "We The People" State Champion.

Carroll High School Students, Samantha Guinn, James Jackson, Jessica Lineman, Jenna Meert, Braxton Minkey, Alison Resac, Zachary Sloffer, Emily Snare, and Alana Southwood were Scholastic Art Award National Medalists.

Carroll High School Students, Noah Mains, Zachary Sloffer, Emily Snare, and Jordan Larson were Scholastic Writing Award National Medalists.

Carroll High School Debate Team earned 5th place in State Competition. Carroll High School FFA Chapter earned the following awards: National Silver Emblem Chapter Award; State Gold Emblem Chapter Award; State 2nd place Living to Serve Community Initiative; State 2nd place Living to Serve Safety Initiative; State winner in AgriAbility Cultivating Accessible Agriculture; and National Gold Winner in AgriAbility Cultivating Accessible Agriculture. Carroll High School Students Nick Fanning earned FFA District and State Proficiency in Emerging Agricultural Technologies, Andrew Frazier earned an American FFA Degree,Whitney Bullion and Philip Chaffee earned their State FFA Degree, Whitney Bullion named Miss Indiana FFA and Mrs. Cindy Raker named Agriculture Teacher of theYear.

Carroll High School Winter Guard earned 9th place in Class A at the Indiana High School Color Guard Association State Finals. Carroll High School Winter Drum Line named Percussion Scholastic "A" Grand Champion at the Indiana Percussion Association State Finals. Carroll Women's Swim and Dive Team earned 13th place in State Competition.Team members are Ciana Heaston, Abby Johnston, MyKenzie Kostka, Courtney Kresl, Sarah Pushis, and Zoe Toscos.

Carroll Men's Swim and Dive Team earned 10th place in State Competition.Team members are Parker Bull, Daulton Freeman, Slan Hess, Ryan Huizing, Jackson Kent, Adam Murphy, Brian Niebuhr, Zach Sagan, Will Schrensky, and Brad Trahin.

Carroll High School FCCLA and Culinary Arts students Madison Bransfield and Rebecca Admire for Hospitality Recreation and Tourism Management Silver in State competition and qualified to compete in the National Competition. Aaron Sigmon and Paige Miller for Food Innovations Silver in State Competition and qualified to compete in the National Competition. Philip Chaffee, Kayla Norris, and Kayla Schaffer for ProStart Culinary Management 3rd place in State Competition. Trisha Hoffman, Austin Rodenberg, Kylee Reed, Natasha Glover, and Amber Hunter for ProStart Culinary Management 2nd place in State Competition. Marisa Sigmon, Jason Cardenas, Jacob Till, Corey Rickman, and Jacob Whisman for ProStart Culinary 5th place in State Competition. Emily McDermit, Austin Helmke, and Brandon Le, Victori Hedges for ProStart Culinary 2nd place in State Competition. Jason Cardenas elected asVice President of Programs Indiana FCCLA. Marisa Sigmon elected as Vice President of District Coordination Indiana FCCLA.

Carroll High School Class of 2014 Valedictorian Dillan J. K. Frenanco and Salutatorian Abby Lemert.

Carroll High School Student Abby Lemert for earning the 2014 U.S. Presidential Scholar Award and the National Merit Scholarship.

Carroll High School Student Tristan Wilson earned his 100th career victory and placed 6th at the State Competition.

Carroll High School Teachers Carrie Wisehart and Robert Ahlersmeyer were awarded individual Lilly Endowment Teacher Creativity Fellowship Grants.

  2. RESOLUTION ROAD RIGHT OF WAYRecommended enclosed resolution to convey 25 feet of right of way along Baird Road to the Allen County Highway Department for road improvements. Per review by John Bloom. Motion to approve by Kent Somers; seconded by Paul Sloffer. Motion carried.
