1. A parent, teacher, or student wanting information about PEAK placement and the petition procedure will meet with the PEAK teacher to discuss the advisability of assessing or reassessing a child for possible placement in the PEAK program.
2. The PEAK teacher or PEAK Program Coordinator will distribute and explain petition forms should the questioner choose to proceed with the petition process.
3. The petitioner will complete petition forms and submit them to the PEAK Program Coordinator.
4. The PEAK Program Coordinator will schedule a meeting of the Building Identification Committee to review the petition. The petitioner will be invited to attend this meeting to personally provide further information and answer the Committee's questions.
5. The Building Identification Committee will make a recommendation concerning PEAK placement. Recommendations could include: placement into the PEAK program, further testing, or periodic review of the child's progress.
6. The Building Identification Committee will submit its recommendation to the PEAK Program Coordinator.
7. The PEAK Program Coordinator will review the recommendation and forward the results to the petitioner.
