REGULAR MEETING
The Northwest Allen County Board of School Trustees met in regular session on Monday, March 28, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the Central Office Board Room. Members present: Kent Somers, Liz Hathaway, Paul Sloffer, Ron Felger and John Hilger. Also present: Chris Himsel, Gloria Shamanoff, Bill Mallers, Lisa Harris, staff, and a reporter.
Motions herewith mentioned are unanimous unless otherwise stated.
President Kent Somers called the meeting to order. Motion to approve the minutes of the March 14, 2016 regular meeting as presented by Liz Hathaway; seconded by John Hilger. Motion carried.
COMMENDATIONS
Dr. Gloria Shamanoff read the following commendations: Carroll Middle students, Sharah Bhuiya, Rei Griswold and Claire Lapp, received National Silver Key awards in the Scholastic Art contest. Maple Creek Middle 6th Grade Band, 7th Grade Band, 8th Grade Band, 6th Grade Choir and Concert Choir for their success at the recent ISSMA Contests. Carroll High students, Lauren Gill, Mariah Kindschy, Emily Misner and Payton Parris earned National Silver Medals; Claire MacDonald and Jasper Schroeder earned National Gold Medals; Caroline Otter earned a Silver Medal; Savannah Furniss earned a Silver Medal with Distinction; and Lauren Gill earned an extra distinction by being awarded a National Silver American Visions Medal in the Scholastic Art contest. Carroll High students, senior Megan Green earned National Gold Medal for her critical essay and freshman Mady Emley earned National Silver Medal for her short story, in the Scholastic Writing competition.

A. CORPORATION PURCHASES Building Corporation Purchases - $1,092,080.50. Capital Projects Fund Purchases - $450,434.00. Recommended a $90.00 textbook rental charge be assessed to sustain the one to one computer program. Motion to approve by Ron Felger; seconded by Paul Sloffer. Motion carried.
B. CORPORATION PAYMENTS Building Corporation Payments - $6,000.00. Motion to approve by Paul Sloffer; seconded by Liz Hathaway. Motion carried.
