Moses Lake School District Welcomes New Executive Director of Finance and Operations

Moses Lake, WA — June 17, 2024 — Moses Lake School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Mitchell (Mitch) Thompson as the new Executive Director of Finance and Operations effective June 14, 2024. Mr. Thompson brings a wealth of experience and a strong educational background, making him an excellent fit for our district during this critical time.

Thompson holds a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting with a second major in Business Administration with an Emphasis in Management from Saint Martin’s College in Olympia, WA. His extensive background includes roles such as Assistant Fiscal Officer at ESD 112 in Vancouver, Director of Risk Management & Business Operations at Battle Ground School District, Director of Financial Services at Tumwater School District, and Executive Director of Fiscal Services at Centralia School District. Additionally, he has served as Supervisor of Enrollment & Institution Funding at OSPI.

In his most recent position, Thompson was directly responsible for business manager services for three school districts: Klickitat School District, Green Mountain School District, and Trout Lake School District. He has a proven track record of instituting procedures to ensure proper internal controls over accounting systems, resulting in positive audit results for the districts he has served. As the new Executive Director of Finance and Operations, Thompson will play a crucial  role in ensuring the financial stability and operational efficiency of Moses Lake School District. 

Acting superintendent Carol Lewis commented, "Mitch Thompson's extensive background and proven leadership in financial management and operations make him a valuable addition to our team. His expertise will be crucial as we navigate the financial challenges ahead."
