• PARCEL TAX EXEMPTION

In November 2016, voters approved Measure E, a renewal of the District’s existing parcel tax
commencing July 1, 2017, and continuing for a period of twelve years. After the first year in
which this special tax is levied, the rate of the special tax shall be increased five percent each
year to account for increases in the cost of living.

    REQUIREMENTS FOR AN EXEMPTION ARE:

For the 2024-2025 Mill Valley School Assessment of $1,250.74, a property owner must reach
the age of 65 before July 1, 2024, and use the property as their principal place of residence
    (Birthday by June 30, 1959).

The senior exemption provided in the existing special tax will be continued; the exemption shall
be granted for any parcel owned by one or more person 65 years of age or over on or before
May 1st of any applicable year who uses that parcel as his or her principal place of residence,
    upon application for exemption.

Please note: The exemption is not automatic when you turn 65. If you choose to take the
    exemption, you must apply.

    HOW TO APPLY FOR EXEMPTION:

Please email your name, address/parcel number (APN), and phone number to
services@mvschools.org or call and leave this information at 415-389-7753.
An application will be sent to you.

The exemption will continue for each year, and the applicant remains eligible during the
assessment period without the need for annual re-application.
