INDIANAPOLIS, IN (July 30, 2024) – Washington Township Schools is proud to announce the dedication and opening of the new Northview Middle School took place on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at 5:00 PM. The event celebrated with the community, the culmination of years of planning and construction.

Located originally on Westfield Boulevard, this “new” Northview Middle School (located at 9020 N. College Ave.) represents Washington Township’s commitment to providing unparalleled educational facilities combining the best attributes of design, cost-effectiveness and sustainability possible. With a capacity to accommodate up to 1,050 students, this two-story structure boasts enhanced security designs, the latest energy efficient systems including LED lighting, a dedicated Project Lead the Way classroom fostering STEM education, MakerSpace to ignite hands-on learning experiences, and a versatile “cafetorium,” designed to seamlessly blend dining and performance spaces.

This new school also has an art room equipped with a full kiln for pottery projects and new athletic fields for football, track, baseball, softball, and soccer. Future athletes and community residents can enjoy the new cross-country course and walking trails accessible to the community.

In essence, the new Northview Middle School epitomizes Washington Township’s dedication to educational equity, not just for the present, but for generations to come. By integrating cutting-edge facilities with innovative classroom designs, Northview Middle School offers a wonderful learning environment, enriching the lives of both students and the community.

As a result of the community’s support of the 2016 and 2020 referenda which directed funds toward improving facilities and infrastructure district-wide, the new Northview Middle School located at 9020 N. College Ave. will come to life with students this Thursday when they enter the building for the first time on Washington Township’s first day of school.

Thanks to the support of the locally elected Washington Township School Board, the District’s leadership was able to implement a successful Supplier Diversity Program during the extensive construction season that has touched every building in the District and built two new Elementary schools, Northview Middle School, an Early Learning Center, and the Paul Loggan Field House. As a result of this supplier diversity program, Washington Township has partnered with firms owned by women, minorities, veterans, and the physically challenged producing over $100M in Contracts with those companies.
