If you were not able to attend one of the design focus groups that the district hosted, we encourage you to take the survey so your voice can be heard regarding school design. We are eager to get feedback from as many constituents as possible. Please review the materials at the link below from the focus groups, give input at the survey link (which will be open through May 30, 2017), and share the link with neighbors, Washington Township community members, and friends. The potential for 21st century learning spaces in Washington Township is exciting. Thank you for your participation in helping to shape the future of Washington Township Schools.

Additionally, in February and March 2017, we offered several opportunities to attend the State of Washington Township Presentation at ten different locations throughout the district. If you were unable to attend a meeting, or if you attended and would like to review the information, we are providing it in video format. In the video, you will be able to see the information that was presented as well as give feedback on the topics covered, at the survey link provided below.

Due to the future opening of an 8th elementary school, as well as the need to maintain better enrollment size balance among our three middle schools, the District must re-balance attendance boundaries or “zones” for K-8 schools.

This will be a comprehensive process over the next 12-18 months, with implementation possible at the start of the 2019-2020 school year.  We are currently gathering feedback from all MSDWT stakeholders to assist us during the early stages of establishing these attendance zones.

Additionally, we will be using feedback from this survey to guide our discussions regarding the start and end times of our school day at all Elementary, Middle and High School levels.

Please take the survey at the link below to provide your feedback and input in this important decision-making process. Your responses will be very helpful as we consider attendance boundary options as well as potential changes to the school day start and end times.

Thank you in advance for your participation.

MSDWT Statement of Gratitude to the Community

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (November 8, 2016) – Washington Township Community,

The Metropolitan School District of Washington Township extends our sincere appreciation to the entire community for approving the November 8, 2016 ballot referenda.  We also extend our appreciation for the extraordinary efforts of community members who volunteered their time to support and educate the community on the needs of our schools.

Passing these referenda makes a significant difference in the district’s ability to continue our rigorous educational programs, attract and retain outstanding teachers, enhance services and opportunities for ALL students, maintain our current buildings, expand our capacity to safely accommodate our growing number of students, offset decreasing and inadequate state revenues, and help maintain property values.

Washington Township enjoys a long tradition of superior schools in a supportive community, where our goal, every day is to develop lifelong learners and globally-minded citizens. We look forward to continuing in this tradition of excellence and we thank you, the Washington Township community, for your support of our schools.

We will begin developing plans for our facilities and staffing needs based on our Strategic Plan and the broad-based community input received as a part of our master facility planning process over the past eighteen months.  Information and updates will be available on our website, so the entire community may stay engaged and informed.

With Appreciation,

Mr. Bill Turner, President of the School Board & Dr. Nikki Woodson, Superintendent
