The Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) program with the Mexico School District is a program that trains individuals to receive
their bus drivers license.
This 50-hour program is located at the Hart Career Center on the Mexico School District campus. The program consists of theory, range, and behind-the-wheel training. The training is divided into 7.5 hours of online training and 20+ hours of driver training.
The course is $2000 dollars per trainee for the full course. A down payment of $1000 is due prior to beginning of the program, and $1000 is due at the
end of the 50-hour program or when the trainee passes the Missouri State Highway Patrol exam, whichever comes first.
Documentation of training information is collected and maintained.
Data collected includes: trainee name, where trainee is from, times and days
of trainings, a list of tasks and what is completed. The records must be maintained for three years.
Mexico School District #59 offers EDLT to trainees that are not employees. The
transportation director is responsible for training staff who are pursuing their license to
become a bus driver for the district.
