As part of our mission, we continue to investigate and use the best curriculum resources for student instruction. The use of web-based software programs has become an integral part of our curriculum in some areas. Marion School District utilizes several computer software applications and web-based services, created, operated, and serviced not by Marion School District directly, but by third parties. Our teachers’ thoughtful and developmentally-appropriate use of these programs provides yet another way for us to engage students and individualize learning. A complete and current list of digital tools can be found in the table below. Some of these tools are used by one or two teachers; others are used more widely.
In many of these applications, certain personal identifying information (generally a student’s name, grade and email address) must be provided to the website or software owner or operator, so that, for example, student accounts or folders can be opened. Under federal law, these websites must provide parental notification and obtain parental consent before collecting personal information from children. US law permits schools to provide consent to the collection of personal information on behalf of all of its students, thereby eliminating the need for parents to provide direct consent to each digital service the school utilizes. This form will constitute your consent for Marion School District to provide personal identifying information for your child such as first name, last name, email address, and username and other details as required to the web site and/or software owners or operators of the sites listed below.
