The Equine & Animal Science program teaches students about caring for, training and managing horses as well as handling, grooming and nutrition of canines and small animals. Subjects including animal anatomy & physiology, behaviorism, and breeding are explored through research papers, projects, and presentations that are incorporated into the academic rigor. For laboratory activities, students work daily with live animals by traveling to local partnering stables to practice all manner of horsemanship, as well as operating a canine and small animal grooming & boarding operation, located in the classroom. Students develop skills such as problem solving, self-directed learning, creativity, teamwork, compassionate care, and effective communication along with technical knowledge.
