Community Based Occupational Education (CBOE) is for students between 14 and 21 years of age with disabilities, who need individualized training provided at a slower rate with repetitive reinforcement. The objective is to develop skills needed for self-care, participation in sheltered work programs or day-habilitiation. In addition to exposure to career training, students are taught to work together, develop appropriate job behaviors, function in a non-sheltered environment, and develop habits needed to obtain and hold employment. The goal of the program is for students to be able to perform tasks in accordance with employee and industrial entry level expectations.

Placement is made through a recommendation by the local committee on Special Education as noted on the Individualized Education Program (IEP) documentation, and in conjunction with the home school guidance counselor or principal.
