Students enter Health Related Careers to explore career options in the healthcare field. They receive a broad foundation of theory and practical skills from the health science core and nurse assisting curriculums. This enables them to pursue entry-level employment or continuing education after graduation. The hands-on clinical portion of the program allows the students to provide patient care at an extended care facility, giving them a chance to decide if healthcare is the right pathway for them. Academic achievement, attendance, community service, and work ethic are all strong components of the program.
Completion of Regents Chemistry and Biology are essential for entrance into most college healthcare programs. Nurse Assistant certification requires successful completion of the program and the NYS certification exam. Students who complete the required 432 total hours, with a minimum of 108 supervised clinical hours, are eligible to take the NYS certification exam. College credits are available to students who pass a college placement exam.
