PROPEL is an award-winning partnership between MOBOCES, regional high schools, and MVCC that allows students to take college classes at the MVCC Rome campus and work toward micro-credentials and certificates during their junior and senior high school years. We are currently offering four career-focused programs to eligible students: Childhood Education, Cybersecurity & Computer Science, Engineering and Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems. Click on the program names to learn more about each one and keep reading to learn more about the PROPEL (Providing Regional Opportunities & Pathways for Enhanced Learning) initiative.
Is there a cost for the program?
There is no cost for students to participate in PROPEL. Your high school provides the transportation and textbooks, and MVCC offers the classes free of charge.
What are the benefits of PROPEL?
PROPEL students gain valuable college-level learning experiences and are eligible to complete a degree with just one year of post-high school coursework.
Will I have help with college classes?
All PROPEL students will take College Seminar, an introductory class which helps students find success in college. PROPEL students also have access to the student assistance programs through their home district, MOBOCES and MVCC.
Do I have to commit for three years?
No. Students have the opportunity to remain in the program and complete their studies at MVCC. However, many of the course credits will transfer to other colleges and universities.
How can I enroll in PROPEL?
Schedule an appointment to talk to your school counselor.
Contact PROPEL Coordinator/MOBOCES Secondary Programs Principal Molly LiBritz with questions or for more information.
