Dear Harrison Families,

I'm sure we are all surprised that it is already February! I hope everyone has survived the cold weather this week! Please make sure students come to school with all the cold-weather gear needed to make coming and going comfortable for our children! Hopefully, we will get some days when we can go outside very soon!

Our Harrison Read-A-Thon starts tomorrow, February 2nd! Parents who have registered, please make sure to log all those reading minutes at home to help us motivate students to reach new levels of reading! If you are not registered yet, please register (Code: 3357882) before the start of the event, as your child will be eligible to win prizes. The PTA email sent on Friday, January 23rd, lists possible prizes for our top-earning and reading classes and individuals! We also plan on giving a school-wide reward! Thank you in advance for encouraging reading and gaining sponsors to support our reading efforts for the next two weeks. Let’s get reading!

Our performers are almost ready to take the stage for Harrison PTA’s 26th Annual Talent Show. It will be held on February 8th at Mount Pleasant Middle School at 12 pm (performers will arrive at 11:30). Pre-show ticket pricing is available on the PTA website until February 3rd. All are welcome to cheer on our amazing acts! Thank you to the PTA for organizing this great event.

Our student council is collecting for our annual SOUPer Bowl Drive! The student council went in to deliver information this week. Please see the following flier for details. We will be collecting cans until February 6th! Thank you for your support!

Our Chess Academy starts on February 10 for 4th and 5th-grade students. Spots are limited. I will send detailed information about the program and sign-up on Monday, February 2. Please be on the lookout for a separate email.

We are also continuing our popular Kids Klub program very soon! Be on the lookout for more information about the program offerings and registration details!

Thank you for joining us for the fifth week of our Digital Citizenship series! This week, we are highlighting Common Sense Media’s Family Tech Planners. This resource can help your family talk together about screen time, online safety, and healthy technology habits. By creating a family plan, children gain a clear understanding of expectations and learn how to use technology in fun, safe, and responsible ways at home.
