Dear Harrison Families,

If you haven't noticed, our upper and lower blacktops have been painted with colorful games, hopscotch, a map, and a walking track for our students to enjoy at Harrison Elementary School for years to come! I want to thank the PTA and a small group of teachers for their leadership from the very start of this project, which made it possible. This project took a lot of patience, revisions, and thought to put together, and I'm excited that our students get to enjoy it. 

Next week, we’ll be celebrating Red Ribbon Week, a national program, to learn about making safe, healthy, and positive choices for ourselves and others. Throughout the week, we’ll show our school spirit with fun theme days that remind us to stay strong, make good choices, and take care of our minds and bodies. We invite all students to join in the celebration and show their commitment to healthy living by participating in each day’s theme! Please see the following link for the theme days this week! 

For the safety and comfort of all our students and families, we ask that dogs not be brought onto school property during arrival and dismissal. These are busy parts of the day with many children moving about, and even the friendliest pets can become anxious in large crowds. Thank you for helping us keep dismissal safe, calm, and orderly for everyone.

A few highlights/reminders from the PTA:

  • Trunk or Treat is this Wednesday, October 29th, 5-6:30 pm (rain date 10/30). Admission is available at the event for those who did not yet sign up. 
  • Library Legacy - dedicate a book to someone special! The deadline is November 3rd. https://harrisonpta.membershiptoolkit.com/form/m/358404
  • Our next PTA meeting is Monday, November 10th at 7pm. Please enter through Door 4.
  • Come join us for a roller skating party at the Florham Park Roller Rink on November 15th, 11-12:30 pm. This is not a drop-off event. https://harrisonpta.membershiptoolkit.com/form/m/354801 
  • The Scholastic book fair is on November 12th and 13th. More information to come.

On November 3rd, 4th, and 5th, the 5th-grade committee is running a snack sale! Please see the following flier for more details and the link to order! Please make sure to place your order for snacks by tomorrow, October 27th. All snacks will be delivered to your children during the school day to enjoy on the half day!

Please sign up for conferences as soon as possible so teachers can plan for thoughtful conversations the following week!
