CAITLIN BALDAUFF (BOLINE) ('07)

Since then, I went to Florida State University, graduating with a BS in Family and Child Science. I was in the cymbal line of the big 8 in the marching chiefs all four years of college. I was subsection leader in 2009 and 2010. I also marched four years of drum corps on cymbals. I marched teal sound 2008, and spirit of Atlanta 2009-2011. I was subsection leader 2010 and 2011 at spirit. I received the Zildjian outstanding cymbal player award 2010 and 2011. Being able to march drum corps helped me in changing the culture of big 8 cymbal line from a section people get cut to, to a section people felt proud to be in. We even performed a cymbal ensemble performance for the 2010 prism concert series. I received the medal of honor award from the marching chiefs directors for my work with the cymbal line.

After college I went to the University of Central Florida and graduated with a MA in Counselor Education. I helped with auditions for the Marching Knights cymbal line and taught cymbals at Winter Park High School my three years there.  This was a lot of fun. During graduate school my focus shifted more toward my career as a mental health and substance abuse therapist. I graduated May 2014.

After this I got married to Brian who is a musician. We have been married for over five years now and lived in two different states. We started in West Virginia where Brian was director of percussion and director of athletics bands. Now we live in Stevens Point Wisconsin where Brian is the director of percussion at the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point.

I am a licensed professional counselor at a community mental health clinic in the city north of Stevens Point. We are enjoying like up north, though the winters get pretty brutal here.  What we do for fun is ultramarathon trail running. We typically run 50k races and have run two 50 mile races. We are starting to get into winter sports like snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. It is definitely a learning curve staying warm and being outside in the cold. Wisconsin is a windy state and we get below 0 temperatures for weeks on end. Much different than Tallahassee!   I am learning frame drumming and Solkattu, a south indian language and hand gesture counting system. It is a lot of fun!
