School Board Recognition Month Gives Community a Chance to Say Thank You
January is School Board Recognition Month. Lamar CISD will join districts across the state to honor the countless contributions of these locally elected advocates, and thank them for their willingness to serve our children and public schools.
School board members tackle a difficult job and shoulder enormous responsibilities. These men and women are elected to establish the policies that provide the framework for our public schools. They provide vision and leadership in their roles as advocates and ensure students are prepared to be productive citizens and the leaders of tomorrow.
Board members serving Lamar CISD are President James Steenbergen, Vice President Kay Danziger, Secretary Kathryn Kaminski, and members Mandi Bronsell, Dr. Tyson Harrell, Joe Hubenak and Melisa Roberts.
In addition to being named the 2018 Region 4 Outstanding School Board as part of the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) Annual School Board Awards Program, the Lamar CISD Board was one of five school boards recently selected as a Texas Honor School Board.
Lamar CISD benefits from the tireless work and countless hours contributed by these local citizens who work without pay. Serving as a crucial link between the community and classroom, the Lamar CISD Board is responsible for more than 33,000 students, nearly 5,000 employees and more than 40 campuses.
