This past February, the Lamar Educational Awards Foundation (LEAF) hosted a raffle for “Superintendent of the Day” at this year’s Men Who Cook.
The raffle winner was Miss Sadie Blahuta, a second grader from Dickinson Elementary and on Thursday, April 21, Superintendent Blahuta officially gave Dr. Nivens "the day off."
As her first order of business as Superintendent, Blahuta decided to declare, April 21, as “Superhero Day.” The Lamar CISD family pulled out all the stops as her message spread throughout the District's 385 square miles and all of the fun outfits sure were a sight to see during Superintendent Blahuta's "SUPER" day.
Blahuta was met in her classroom where Dr. Nivens officially presented her with her new badge and her "keys" to the District. Superintendent Blahuta then received a police escort to her new office where she was greeted by a mass of smiling faces eager to meet their "new boss" for the day.
Superintendent Sadie met with each member of Cabinet and enjoyed various activities as she learned about how Lamar CISD operates each day. Blahuta had the opportunity to leave her mark on one of our upcoming elementary schools, made a surprise appearance at the Assistant Principal's meeting and even got to wish some of our very own athletes luck at the regional track meet!
Between meetings and staff introductions, Superintendent Sadie found time for painting, dance parties and even a quick snow cone break with Chief Warren.
