Lake Shore Central Receives Digital Citizenship School Recognition Award

It had been three years since Marialice B.F.X. Curran, Ph.D., founder of the Digital Citizenship Institute, had been to Lake Shore Central. Well, now it is 2022, and she is back--with awards! Dr. Curran planned on awarding this recognition to Lake Shore in 2020 for its technical collaboration with her Institute, but we all know why that did not happen.  Specifically, Dr. Curran stopped by Lake Shore High's Leadership in Action Class where she awarded Superintendent, Dan Pacos, with the award. In addition to the awards' ceremony, Marialice also took some time to tell her unique  leadership story as a person with dyslexia explaining that she had to believe in herself even when leaders at her school told her she 'was not college material..." Students were both entertained and saddened by Dr. Curran's story, but in the end, they were left with a feeling of optimism for what they can achieve.  Special thanks goes out to Lake Shore's Technology Integrators, Mike Drezek and Deann Poleon and to Assistant Superintendent, Melissa Bergler for bringing Marialice to Lake Shore. Dr. Curran has connected with dozens of teachers across the district and has helped facilitate various technology projects that connect both students and community. We are so happy to have her back at Lake Shore! (Pictured: Dr. Marialice Curran with Superintendent Pacos and Lake Shore High School Leadership Students).
