Dear Students and Parents,
We have completed two weeks of the 2021-2022 school year with the theme, "Coming together to reconnect." After many months of being apart, it's great to be together again for in-person learning and new opportunities to build relationships. We continue to work through the ongoing challenges related to COVID-19. Lackland ISD "requires universal indoor masking and requires all students (age two and older), staff, teachers, and visitors to PK-12 schools, regardless of vaccination status, to wear a face mask indoors". This requirement is based on the San Antonio Bexar County Health Authority recommendations and requirements established per DoD Instruction (DoDI) 6200.3. We will continue our protocols for reactions to any COVID-19 cases and do our best to keep all our students safe. We appreciate your support in monitoring the health of your child(ren) and refraining from sending them to school if they are sick. We are excited about the engagement of members of our learning organization thus far. Lackland ISD has a proud academic excellence tradition and hopes to continue this tradition with your help and support. Our dedicated administrators, teachers, and staff look forward to serving our students and ensuring they have a successful school year. We recognize and appreciate the sacrifice that the parents of our students make every day as members of the Armed Forces. Therefore, we strive to provide a learning environment that is safe and nurturing so that parents can focus on their mission. We wish our students and parents the best during the 2021-2022 school year. God Bless! Dr. Burnie L. Roper

FREE LUNCH & BREAKFAST FOR ALL LISD STUDENTS DURING THE 2021-2022 SY LISD students will receive free lunch and breakfast meals during the 2021- 2022 school year with special funding authorized by the United States Department of Agriculture. For meals to be free for students, they must be compliant with USDA regulations. Second meals and a la carte items are available for purchase. Research shows students learn better when they are well nourished. Healthy eating has been linked to higher grades, better memory, more alertness, faster information processing, and improved health leading to better school attendance. We encourage our students to join us for well-balanced, free meals in one of our cafeterias every school day. Menus are available online at: https://www.lacklandisd.net/departments/operations/child-nutrition-services.

Summer Art Camp
Near the end of Summer 14 kids came out and spent a week making a lot of art. They did 3 paintings on various size canvases, created objects using real and polymer clay, made designer paper mache' boxes, and teamed up to paint a mural finishing off the series outside that leads to the elementary cafeteria. The students did amazing during all phases of the camp.
Mrs. Crawford’s class used their engineering skills and built contraptions to protect their egg from a fall. Every design was successful when dropped on the grass, and one design was successful on concrete! Mrs. Crawford’s science class practiced using science tools by reading measurements during observation stations.
