School Principals’ Day is celebrated on May 1 annually to recognize the importance of principals, from elementary to high school, and all the work they do for the betterment of the school.
While the first thing that comes to mind when we think of a principal is a terrorizing figure who administers suspensions, expulsions, and detentions, we all know that there is really much more to them. Janet Dellaria, a teacher from Michigan, backed by many teachers associations, decided to dedicate a day to celebrate these educational leaders of schools and spread awareness of the importance of their role.
While students have to think about studying and teachers about teaching, the principal has a lot more on his or her mind pertaining to the school. From helping students to achieve more, managing students as well as the teachers, and living up to the expectations of the parents, the jobs of school principals are often underestimated. Another thing that makes them worthy of recognition is that they started as teachers and climbed their way up to the principal’s seat. They also often substitute for teachers if they have taken leave and thus know how to engage with students and make the learning process interesting. This is what makes the school principal more than just the head of a school but a true teacher who makes a difference in the lives of students. Their job includes meeting with the teachers, understanding the students’ concerns, planning lessons, as well as aiming to make the school better in all ways.
Thank you to our amazing Principals! |

Lackland ISD Celebrates National School Lunch Hero Day (May 3, 2024) Happy National School Lunch Hero Day! 🎉 Today, Lackland ISD along with communities across the nation celebrated National School Lunch Hero Day, recognizing the invaluable contributions of the individuals who play a vital role in ensuring children have access to healthy and nutritious meals at school. Our child nutrition staff work tirelessly behind the scenes to plan, prepare, and serve meals that nourish both body and mind. Their dedication goes beyond just serving food; they create welcoming environments where students can enjoy their meals, fostering positive relationships and promoting healthy eating habits. On this special day, let's take a moment to express our gratitude to these remarkable individuals who make a difference in the lives of our children every school day. Thank you, school lunch heroes, for your unwavering commitment to ensuring that no child goes hungry and for being champions of nutrition education and wellness in our schools.

4th and 5th graders hosted Night at the Museum. Families came out to support and see all of the hard work students put into their presentations. 4th grade focused on the history of Fiesta in San Antonio and 5th grade on the Great Depression and Wall Street crash of 1929. It was an amazing display of creativity while sharing factual information. Students truly shined as their teachers proudly looked on having implemeted the entire evening! Congratulations!!

Mrs. Henry's kindergarten class has been learning about pets and animals and had a pet adoption day where all the kids got to adopt a pet and were responsible for taking care of them everyday. The kids wanted to know what happened if we planted jelly beans and so we did and through the magic of kindergarten jelly bean lollipops grew. There also was the Purple Up Parade and a few sweet moments with the amazing Mrs. Gamble.

Hello, GT Families!
As we enter the last stretch of the 2023-2024 school year, we're excited for the flurry of "final events" that typically mark this time, from classroom celebrations to award ceremonies, performances, and, of course, graduations. We encourage you to savor these moments and embrace the adventures of summer ahead, while also finding moments to unwind and recharge.
Each child possesses unique strengths, whether in math, language arts, the sciences, music, arts, leadership, athletics, philanthropy, or any other field. Our task is to support them in discovering and nurturing these talents by encouraging exploration of their interests and abilities.
As you embark on your summer break, we encourage you to create opportunities for your students to engage in activities that spark their curiosity and passion. We'll reconnect with you in September through our Back-To-School newsletter! |
