Stacey High School's "Bots in Blue" Excel at UIL 2A State Robotics Championships |
|
|
DALLAS, TX - The University Interscholastic League (UIL) 2A State Championships for BEST Robotics, held from December 4th to 7th, 2024, featured a remarkable showcase of Texas's young engineering talent, with 76 teams vying for supremacy in STEM. Stacey High School’s "Bots in Blue" team not only competed but shone brightly, earning a commendable 5th place finish after qualifying through their first-place win at the South Texas Regional event on November 10th.
About the Team:
The "Bots in Blue" from Stacey High School have become synonymous with innovation and teamwork in the robotics arena. Under the guidance of coaches Mrs. Rebecca Huerta and Mr. Ken Kinsey, and Parent Mentor Richard Bramlett, this year's team, Olivia Albrecht, Cadence Bramlett, Harmony Bramlett, Christopher Clark, Joseph Coomber, Diego Flores, Eliana Flores, Le'anjre Jones, Isaiah Magana, Tristyn Myrick, Evan Stiverson, and Seth Yeager, demonstrated exceptional skill and creativity. Their path to the state championships was paved with a standout performance at the regionals, where they clinched the 1st place award from the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) for "Outstanding Team Initiative, Cohesiveness, Use of Robot Technology and Overall Excellence in All Facets of the Competition." This accolade led to a unique opportunity for the team to demonstrate their cutting-edge robot to over 3,000 attendees at the 2024 Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) conference at La Cantera Resort and Spa on November 20th.
The Championship Event:
The event in Dallas was a battleground for the best STEM schools in the state, with "Bots in Blue" distinguishing themselves through their creativity and technical acumen. The competition was intense, but Stacey High School's team navigated through the challenges with finesse, reaching the semi-finals after a series of grueling matches. Their 5th place finish in the 2A division positioned them in the top 2.5% of all 2A schools in Texas, a testament to their skill and determination.
Impact and Future:
The achievements of "Bots in Blue" at the state championships further elevate Stacey High School's standing in STEM education. This success not only instills pride but also serves as a catalyst for increased student involvement in science and engineering. With this level of recognition, doors are now open for the students to explore national and international competitions, potentially securing scholarships, mentorships, and forging pathways into the tech and engineering sectors.
The "Bots in Blue" have undeniably marked their territory in the robotics world, proving that with dedication, innovation, teamwork, and excellent coaching, great things are achievable. Their performance at the UIL 2A State Championships in Dallas stands as an inspirational milestone for aspiring engineers across Texas, highlighting the vibrant and competitive robotics community within the state. |

I participate in BJJ tournaments every few months, usually local, so here in San Antonio. I’ve won 3 gold medals so far.
Is there a color ranking system like karate?
There is a belt system, for the regular adult classes it ranges from white, blue, purple, brown, then black. With stripe ranks in between.

I learned that pain is part of the process. I’m never going to be at 100% and that’s okay.
