Lackland Elementary Teacher Jamie Ryan and eighteen other EXCEL Award winners were recognized on Monday, May 6th at the DoSeum at the annual EXCEL Awards Banquet. Mrs. Ryan was selected by her peers for this outstanding honor. In attendance with Mrs. Ryan was her husband, Mrs. Salma Boyd, and Dr. Roper. “The EXCEL Award was created in 1999 to celebrate innovation in public school education. Today the purpose remains the same”. Each year KENS5 and Credit Human recognize one teacher from each area school district for the remarkable difference they make in the classroom and beyond. We are extremely proud of Mrs. Ryan and her contributions to Lackland Elementary and Lackland ISD. We are fortunate to have her as a member of our staff. Congratulations Mrs. Ryan!

They looked back on this year’s competition, answered questions for new students and gave demonstrations on how CyberPatriot works to prospective new team members. While that was going on, everyone enjoyed Chick-Fil-A and drinks. 2018-2019 was the most successful year so far for Stacey CyberPatriot. In addition to fielding a record number of teams (four!), three of the four teams scored high enough to complete in the platinum tier and our all-girls team reached the gold tier. Before this year, no Stacey team had ever advanced above the gold tier.
Stacey Seniors Savor Silver Spurs by: Zoria LaCour, senior
On May 4th , the class of 2019 went out on their senior trip to Silver Spurs Ranch in Bandera. The class was provided with activities such as swimming, hiking on the lookout for fossils, a hayride to see the herd of longhorns and petting donkeys, horses, and goats around the ranch. Silver Spurs also provided lunch and dinner where they served tacos with many different toppings for lunch and chicken, beans, potatoes, and sausage for dinner. As the day came to a close a campfire was started where seniors made s’mores and told stories. Despite this being one of the final trips they will ever take together, everyone felt relaxed and came together with an inseparable bond.
