Though we have no clue how the year will look; we certainly know how it started. All district personnel gathered together for goose chase shenanigans. We have Congo lines, bowling, air hockey, high rope walking, and most importantly smiles and laughter. There were 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place prize winner but ultimately we all won because of the opportunity to reconnect. With a start like this, the year ahead seems promising!

Over the summer, the Lackland ISD Technology Department held its first annual Technology Conference, "Camp Tech: Fuel Your Fire!" and it was a huge hit! Many teachers took advantage of amazing sessions (both in person and virtually) hosted by fellow teachers, technology department members, and vendors, to learn about the latest technology trends and programs available to them in their classrooms. In-person attendees were privileged to free breakfast, snacks, lunch, and amazing door prizes provided by the following local establishments: Kendra Scott, Chicken N Pickle, Chuy's, Red Robin, Nestle Tollhouse, Olive Garden, Main Event, and Bubba's 33! We can't wait to see our conference grow bigger and even better for next year! In the pictures: Kellie Clark-Chan (ELA) presents to teachers on Podcasts in the Classroom! Pam Torre(SS), Cris Street (Math), Rebecca Huerta (AVID), Whitney Phillips (Math) participate on zSpace, a virtual reality student learning experience!
FREE LUNCH & BREAKFAST FOR ALL LISD STUDENTS DURING THE 2021-2022 SY LISD students will receive free lunch and breakfast meals during the 2021- 2022 school year with special funding authorized by the United States Department of Agriculture. For meals to be free for students, they must be compliant with USDA regulations. Second meals and a la carte items are available for purchase. Research shows students learn better when they are well nourished. Healthy eating has been linked to higher grades, better memory, more alertness, faster information processing, and improved health leading to better school attendance. We encourage our students to join us for well-balanced, free meals in one of our cafeterias every school day. Menus are available online at: https://www.lacklandisd.net/departments/operations/child-nutrition-services.
Week 1 is in the books! A huge thank you to those who came out to help usher our students into what’s going to be an interesting and exciting school year. As we move forward throughout the school year let’s continue to share with one another words of affirmation, encouragement, and cookies of course! 😊

The Stacey volleyball teams started their season on August 2nd and have already played in one scrimmage and 2 games. Last Friday both JV and Varsity played against Kenedy HS. The JV had a rough game and could never get going losing 2-0(25-20,25-7). The varsity played in an exciting match and made an incredible come back after being down 2 sets to 1. It was a true team effort in pulling out the 3-2(25-22, 21-25, 24-26, 25-17 and 15-13) victory!!! Awesome images by: Mrs. Victoria Smith

In Mrs. Baltazar's class the first few days were spent doing a close reading activity and then creating their own version of the same story. The catch is that the original is only told using a series of checks written by a father and his son over a 30 year period.
The Iditarod Sled Dog Race
Every Day on Earth
On the first Saturday of March, dozens of humans and over 1,000 dogs line up for one of the longest races in the world, the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. Each team of 12 to 16 dogs pulls its musher (the person riding the dogsled) through the cold Alaskan wilderness in the race from Anchorage to Nome, Alaska. The course is about 1,112 miles long on even years and 1,131 miles long on odd years. The fastest time was 8 days, 22 hours, 46 minutes and 2 seconds, set in 2002 by Martin Buser. That means that Buser and his dogs covered just under 125 miles every day of the race. The race's slowest winning time was set by Carl Huntington with 20 days, 15 hours, 2 minutes and 7 seconds in 1974.
