Admin Alley Memorial Day This U.S. federal holiday is observed on the last Monday of May to honor the men and women who have died while serving in the military. In 2020, Memorial Day will be observed on Monday, May 25.
Memorial Day commemorates the men and women who died while in the military service of their country, particularly those who died in battle or as a result of wounds sustained in battle. In other words, the purpose of Memorial Day is to memorialize the veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. We spend time remembering those who lost their lives and could not come home, reflecting on their service and why we have the luxury and freedom that we enjoy today. Lackland ISD would like to honor all of the fallen heroes who served and sacrificed in the line of duty. Thank you for your service and dedication.
First Responder's Parade
Lackland ISD participated in the First Responder Parade through an invitation extended to us by Deputy Chief, Michael Guzman, of the Firefighting Operations for Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland on Wednesday, May 20, 2020. The parade served as a salute to front-line first responders on Joint Base San Antonio and the Greater San Antonio Area. The parade route was through the Balfour Beatty Community. It allowed our students and their families to salute first responders. Law enforcement officers, firefighters, paramedics, and emergency services vehicles (ambulances, police cars, fire trucks) were recognized. Lackland ISD joined the parade with a district vehicle, school bus, and teachers in personal vehicles in tow. We were proud to honor these brave first responders and also have the opportunity to see our students who we have tremendously missed. Around the District Hello Parents, You should receive an email requesting your participation in LISD’s spring survey. The purpose of the survey is to gain insight into the social-emotional well-being of our LISD family. If your child is in 3rd-5th grade we are also requesting their feedback as well. Please note that while this is completely optional, your participation will enable us to provide targeted support. Below I’ve provided the link to the survey and a multi-use access code if you are unable to access it via the emailed link. Your child will use the same link to access the survey but will use their Student ID as the access code.

LISD parents, the weekly resources are here!
This week we are featuring a fun and informative video for our 5th Graders moving up to Stacey Junior High School! This project was put together by Mrs. Antoine, the Military Student Transition Consultant and Mrs. Billingsley, Stacey JH/SH Instructional Technologist. Additionally, we are continuing to provide tools to help parents and students with self-care and mental health resources. Mrs. Antoine, our MSTC, is sharing this weekly newsletter to keep families up to date and better equipped with relevant tools during this time that we are social distancing. Pay special attention to the Doseum Summer Camp (and others) that are open locally for in-person experiences that follow social distancing guidelines.

Dear Past Self, The future is exciting yet horrific, you never know what it holds. As I look back to last semester, I would definitely say it was wild. With the knowledge I have now I could have gotten better grades, turned in my assignments, and not failed my tests. I would tell myself to work early so I wouldn’t be late on my due date. I would tell myself to actually complete the assignments and not waive them off. I wish I had known a lot of stuff that I do now, such as time management, different weighted assignments, and much, much more. I never knew how important time management really is in school. This quarantine has put a toll on my family and friends. I do think this will affect our future in many ways. To stay positive I have been relaxing, sleeping, and playing more basketball and video games. I can always count on basketball to relieve stress.
