Imagine a day dedicated to the superheroes behind the scenes, the ones who keep the gears of our workplaces turning smoothly.
We’re talking about National Administrative Professionals Day! It’s like a big “thank you” party held every year. This special day falls on the Wednesday of the last full week of April, which in 2024 is April 24th.
National Administrative Professionals Day is like a high-five for the office heroes who keep everything running smoothly.
Mark your calendars! This special day happens on the Wednesday of the last full week in April. It’s a day packed with gratitude, where we cheer for those who tackle the tasks we often overlook.
Why do we celebrate? These professionals are the backbone of every office. They handle calls, manage schedules, and ensure everything is in its right place.
This day shines a light on their crucial role. It’s our way of saying, “We see you, and we appreciate you.” Their hard work keeps our work lives balanced and organized.
The tradition began back in 1952, aiming to recognize the silent warriors of the workspace. It has grown to include all administrative roles beyond just secretaries.
This day encourages us to acknowledge their immense contribution. Let’s make sure they feel valued and respected on April 24th. It’s a small gesture for their year-round dedication. |

On Friday, April 12, Taelor Nelloms, a senior at Lackland, put together an art gallery that was held in the foyer of the auditorium. The show featured eighteen pieces, ranging from 1st grade artists to a 12th grade artist. Twelve of the artists that were featured brought their friends and family to admire the art and enjoy some refreshments.
A big thank you to all the art gallery attendants. Thank you as well to Mr. Richard for allowing us to use the foyer before the theater production. Lastly, thank you to all the art teachers, Mr. Garcia (elementary school), Mr. Martinez (junior high and high school), and Ms. Stege (high school), for your help selecting the pieces! |

Students Visit the Pearl By: Adrian Hughes, junior
On Saturday April 13th, Ms. Polis took her AP Environmental Science class on a field trip to the Pearl Brewery and Hotel Emma to learn about the sustainable practices they use. Ms. Polis and her class walked around the farmers market by The Pearl and went into stores such as Ten Thousand Villages, a
store that participates in fair market trade to give back to the artisans in other countries.
The Pearl was a former brewery in downtown San Antonio. It was bought by Hotel Emma in 2002, and it still stands as a pillar of sustainability. The Hotel Emma was able to extract pieces of metal from the brewery and use them as décor throughout the hotel. This prevented the metal from ending up in landfills and dumps where they would sit for decades. Buildings and shops surrounding the Pearl and Hotel Emma have also pledged to follow sustainable practices.

Stacey Flashback: Raul Rosales
By: Gabby DeLambo, junior |
|
|
Raul graduated from Stacey in 2018. He went on to graduate from Stetson University in Florida and currently works as an 8th grade English Language Arts teacher in Deltona, Florida. When did you go to Stacey? I attended Stacey from 2014 to 2018. What are some of your favorite memories from Stacey?
One of my favorite moments was during my junior year when our class had to set up for Senior prom. Getting to work with my friends and peers to build the decorations, all the while listening to music and cracking jokes, was super fun and a great bonding activity. Were you in any clubs or activities? I was in Student Council and S2S.
Where did you go to college and what was your major? I graduated from Stetson University, and majored in History with minors in education, and Africana Studies.
How do you think going to a smaller school affected you? I think going to a smaller school made it much easier to make friends. Additionally, the clubs were very collaborative and close knit. What places have you lived and where do you live now?
Post-Graduation, I went to Stetson University in Florida and lived on campus until my senior year. I currently live in Sanford, Florida, with plans to move to Berkeley California later this year.
Where do you work? I currently teach 8th grade English Language Arts at Galaxy Middle School in Deltona.
What are your hobbies?
Some of my hobbies include video games, taking care of my two miniature schnauzers Margo and Roya, reading comic books, and listening to video game soundtracks.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go? If I could go anywhere in the world, I’d visit Lithuania. It is where my girlfriend, Laura, is from and I absolutely adore Lithuanian food. What advice would you give to the Class of 2024?
I would recommend them to step out of their comfort zone. You’re never sure when you’re going to discover your new favorite hobby, favorite sport, or even favorite person.
Anything else you’d like to add? I would like to give a shout out to my sister who attends Stacey, Arianna Rosales. She is also planning on attending Stetson University and I am so proud of her! THANK You Raul! |

2nd grade built a real-life pond in Science this past month. They learned about pond animals, their habitat, basic needs, pond food chains and even wrote a research paper. Students went around campus finding natural resources to build their man-made habitat and housed it in one of the 2nd grade classrooms. Students then studied 3 turtles, a frog, and multiple fish from Region 20 as part of their Life Science Unit.
