Here’s a short message from a pediatric infectious disease doctor with UT Health in San Antonio, Tess Barton. Dr. Barton has been fighting viruses for seventeen years. She’s advising area schools about Covid-19 protocols and safety measures. We feel this message is important with the upcoming Halloween celebrations and Covid-19 cases on the rise. Around the District What do we do to take care of ourselves at Lackland...we create our own calming bottles. Teachers, administrators, support staff, and custodians joined in the fun! It's amazing how a little clear glue, water, and some GLITTER can invite a moment of bliss in the middle of the day.

Face 2 face learners are listening to replicate the set up. Students enjoyed the challenging activity, especially if they got it 100% correct. The family and community service class started a district wide project to write kind notes and send a little love to elders by writing letter. The whole school district was involved. They were able to get letters from kindergarten all the way up to seniors! 150 letters were collected and a few students requested a pen pal. The community service class would like to thank everyone who helped brighten the days of the Blue Skies residents.

Every Day on Earth...
Can you believe that a lemon tree can produce 1,500 lemons a year? That is an average of a little more than four lemons every day! All those lemons would weigh between 500 and 600 pounds. Lemon trees bloom all year long, and their lemons can be picked more than six times in a year. India and Mexico are the largest lemon producers in the world. California and Arizona produce more than 90 percent of lemons in the United States. Catholic missionaries were to first to plant lemons in California and Arizona.
Elementary Happenings Mrs. Lawrence’s class enjoying campfire stories in the library.
How many seeds in a pumpkin? Students in Mrs. Guerrero’s class enjoyed listening to the story and then had fun estimating and counting how many seeds their pumpkin had. They did great counting their seeds by 2’s, 5’s, & 10’s.
Mrs. Silvin’s class practiced counting today. They used an unusual model. I wonder who their Mummy was today?
