This past Tuesday, January 26, 2021, Lackland ISD celebrated our amazing school board members acknowledging their service to our district. The pandemic has made it difficult for the board to all meet in person, but our board members continue to conduct school district business either in person or via Zoom. They continue to support the district vision and mission as we work our way through an unprecedented pandemic. The schools and the district showed our appreciation by presenting each of them with baskets that included several goodies. We appreciate our board and we honor each of them for their service to Lackland ISD.
LISD Board Members Mr. Brian Miller, Board President Mrs. Jere Pace, Board Secretary Mr. Chris Dietert, Member Dr. Khalil Gatlin, Member SMSgt (S) Sandra Wellman, Member Around the District Lackland ISD Shares Survey Results Parents Speak Thank you for taking advantage of the opportunity to share your voice as members of the Lackland ISD learning organization by participating in the Fall 2020 survey. Question: Which would mess us up your hair more...a stream of solar wind traveling at 1 million miles (1.6 million kilometers) per hour or a wind on Earth blowing 13 miles (21 kilometers) per hour?
Answer: The wind on Earth would mess up your hair more. The solar wind moves extremely fast, but it is made of so very few particles, it would not have enough mass to move your hair. When traveling its average speed, the solar wind will travel 24 million miles (38.4 million kilometers) in one day. This means it takes almost four days to go the 93 million miles (149.5 million kilometers) to the Earth.
