Elementary Happenings Last Saturday, Jan 18, our elementary robotics club, The Lackland Soaring Eagles, participated in the FIRST Lego League Alamo Area qualifier competition with their coaches, Ms. Kickler and Mrs. Johnson. They were judged on several components, including a research project, the FIRST Core Values, and their robot design. They also competed in the robot challenge missions to score points for successfully coding their robot to complete specific tasks. The kids had a great time and scored 125 points in the robot challenge, a new high for Lackland Elementary. We are very proud of their hard work this year. Congrats JJ, Quinn, Jackson, Zion and Connor!
On our campus’ 25th year of Success For All reading, SFA teachers learned new strategies to implement in their classrooms in Phoenix, Arizona. They felt energized when they returned to school. The sessions inspired them to continue the shared mission of ensuring all kids are given the opportunity to be successful!
This week in math, fifth-graders investigated area perimeter and volume. Students inbuilt models and discussed various ways to determine a formula that could be used to find an objects area, perimeter, and volume. SFA Celery Experiment
