Much of the feedback from our school climate surveys over the past few years have highlighted the need for better communication between the district and our parents. To meet that need, we are very excited to announce that we have rolled out ParentSquare! Lackland ISD continues to strive toward improving communication.
ParentSquare is a communication platform. Through the platform, you’ll be able to: *Receive all district, school, and classroom communication via email, text, or app *View the school and classroom calendar and RSVP for events *Easily sign up to volunteer and/or bring items
*Securely receive important documents like report cards and other student documents
For the best ParentSquare experience, we recommend that you download and install the app. The name is ParentSquare, and it can easily be found in your device’s app store. If you don’t have a device, no need to worry: the platform is capable of both text and email, and you can log on via the web as well. ParentSquare receives its contact information from the Ascender Parent Portal. Please take a moment to make sure that you have the latest contact information on file there.

Stacey Homecoming Dance By Adisyn Piper, sophomore
The 2023 Homecoming dance theme was Starry Night. On Monday the 23rd before the homecoming dance student council was selling tickets for 20 dollars for one person or 30 dollars for two. The selling of tickets stopped on Friday the 27th. The dance was run by Stuco and the members in that club. At the dance there was music, a photo booth, food, and tons of decorations.
Yearbook staff members ran the photo booth, which was the most popular attraction at the dance. There was also a variety of different foods such as fruit and vegetable platters, sandwiches, chips, cookies, and nachos. The food was handled by parents who volunteered to help with the dance. The music wasn’t the best because we didn’t have a DJ, so we improvised by using speakers that connected to someone’s phone. Overall, the dance was fun. Some people went with dates while others went with friends. Everyone seemed to have a good experience.

How did the Frisbee get its name? |
|
|
Believe it or not,the name "Frisbee" goes back to the Frisbie Pie Company of New Haven, Connecticut, when some employees started tossing around the company's pie pan.
Close to 300 MILLION Frisbees have been made in in their 40 years of production: that is more than 20,000 Frisbees made every day.
The first mass-produced flying disk was called Pluto Platter, but its name soon changed to Frisbee after the company learned about the Frisbie pie-pan tossing. The first Frisbee tournament was held at Dartmouth University in 1954. If you have a Frisbee at home, and you have not tossed it around in awhile, take a step outdoors and toss the Frisbee. It will definitely make you smile!!! ~Pam Torre 6th Grade World Cultures and Geography 7th Grade Texas History |

“My Child Needs More Time with the Speech Therapist!”
This is one of the most common requests that I hear from parents of children with autism, and I TOTALLY get where you’re coming from. A speech therapist helps children talk better. You want your child to talk better. It makes sense that increasing the amount of time that your child sees the therapist would help them talk better more quickly, right?
Well, it’s more complicated than that.
