Lackland ISD's Registration for 2021-2022 for Returning Students

Lackland ISD is currently registering current students who plan to return to school for the 2021-2022 school year.  Your campus principal has forwarded school messages to share this requirement.

If you are a returning LISD resident/student:

Please click on this hyperlink Returning Student Registration to complete your 2021-2022 registration process. * Please note:  Due to the high volume of movement during the pandemic, we are requiring that you provide the most recent housing lease.  There are two parts to the returning registration process.  Part I are local forms, and Part II are forms within the Ascender Parent Portal. You will need your child's parent portal ID to complete part II of the registration process.  If you need your student's parent portal ID, please email your campus registrar.

Lackland Elementary Registrar, johnson.s@lacklandisd.net

Stacey Jr/Sr High School Registrar, jett.b@lacklandisd.net

The deadline is Monday, May 3, 2021. Failure to complete the process/forms may result in your child not being assigned a teacher for Meet the Teacher.

If you are not returning for the 2020-2021 school year:

Please click on this hyperlink https://www.cognitoforms.com/LacklandISD1/StudentWithdrawalTrackingForm

Failure to complete this may result in your child's records not being prepared for you to register at them at their new school. Once you complete the form, your child's records will be prepared and then sent to your email address listed in the registration.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your campus registrar.

Lackland ISD Celebrates the Month of the Military Child

Lackland ISD exists to serve the military child.  April is the Month of the Military Child.  It is a time to honor the sacrifices made by military families worldwide, emphasizing the experiences of the dependent children of military members serving at home and overseas. April 15 is "Purple up! For Military Kids", a day recognized in military-connected communities to wear purple to show support and thank military children for their strength and sacrifices.  Purple indicates that all branches of the military are supported.  Air Force (blue), Army (green), Navy (blue), Marine (red), and Cost Guard (blue) all combine into a single color, purple.

Lackland ISD began its recognition of the 'Month of the Military Child' on April 1, 2021, prompting students to wear their pajamas as a reminder to follow their dreams. Each Thursday of the month will encourage activities for student participation.  Please watch for school messages to share how we will continue the celebration and recognition of military children.

The Lackland Education Foundation is up and running and we are excited about the possibilities that our Foundation will offer for our teachers and our students. On June 12, 2021, the Lackland ISD Foundation will host its first fundraiser at Top Golf  ( Topgolf: Golf, Party Venue, Sports Bar & Restaurant ). Please join us for an afternoon of fun and games in a safe and healthy environment. The event will be held from 1-4 pm. In addition to all the food and games that Top Golf has to offer, we will also conduct a Silent Auction for some wonderful prizes.  Please come out and support our military-connected students!

The Foundation is available 24/7 to accept donations via our webpage. You can go to Foundation - Lackland Independent School District (lacklandisd.net) to make donation using Pay Pal. Just click on the yellow  “Donate” button  located on the right side of the webpage or if you prefer, you can send a check to the following address:

BinaxNOW Rapid COVID-19 Student Testing- Lackland ISD

Lackland School District has been provided rapid test kits from the State of Texas. We have test kits available for use on campus and will extend testing opportunities to enrolled students beginning Monday, March 29, 2021.  COVID-19 testing kits can be discontinued at any time.

Use of Tests by Students

1. Any student receiving a test must have a signed consent form from their parent/guardian.

2. Any parent of a student wanting their child to receive a test should make an appointment.

3. Results will be reported to the student's parent, Lackland ISD nurse, San Antonio Metro Health, and TEA as mandated by the state.

4. The results from the rapid tests can be used to return to school if all criteria are met such as no fever for 24 hours without medication, AND other symptoms have improved. This will be looked at on a case by case basis.

5. The results from the rapid tests CANNOT be used to shorten a 14 day quarantine for exposure since you cannot test out of quarantine.

6. The results of a rapid test CANNOT be used to shorten the required 10 day isolation after a positive test result.

7. If concerned after travel or other activities, tests can be done for reassurance if appointments are available.

Arranging for a Test

If your child is experiencing symptoms at home or are currently quarantined-

1. Make an appointment by calling 210-357-5036.

2. At your appointment time, we will utilize the Stacey bus loop. You will stay in your car and the test administrator will come to you.

3. Complete the Student COVID-19 Consent Form. This form provides us with the necessary consent to be able to administer the testing for your child on-campus.

4. Complete the Testing Kit Demographics. You need to register some demographic information with the state in order to have your child tested.  You will receive a QR code with this step.

5. Bring your QR code (taken with the picture on your phone) to your appointment.

If your child is not having symptoms-

1. Make an appointment by calling 210-357-5036.

2. Complete the Student COVID-19 Consent Form. This form provides us with the necessary consent to be able to administer the testing for your child on-campus.

3. Complete the Testing Kit Demographics. You need to register some demographic information with the state in order to have your child tested.  You will receive a QR code with this step.

4. Bring your QR code (taken with the picture on your phone) to your appointment.

5. Specimen collection will be completed outside under the front awning of the auditorium if weather permits.

If symptoms begin on campus- the nurse will call the parent to determine if the parent wants to proceed with COVID-19 testing.

Results

Results will be ready in approximately 15 minutes. We ask that you wait for the results in your car or in the Eagle Clinic if you are on campus. Parents/guardians will be notified of your results by the test administrator. Test results will also be text and emailed to the parent/guardian by TxRapidTEST.org within a few hours.

Testing Notice

In April and May, STAAR and STAAR EOC exams will be administered on-campus, online, using district laptops. All students who are on-campus on their exam administration dates are required to test. Please check your email regularly for more information detailing this year’s STAAR and STAAR EOC exams.

Questions:  Which would mess up your hair more...a stream of solar wind traveling at 1 million miles (1.6 million kilometers) per hour or a wind on Earth blowing at 13 miles (21 kilometers) per hour?

Answer:  The wind on Earth would mess up your hair more!!!  The solar wind moves extremely fast, but it's made up of so very few particles, it wouldn't have enough mass to move your hair.

When traveling at its average speed, the solar wind will travel 24 million miles (38.4 million kilometers) in ONE day. This means it takes almost FOUR days to go the 93 million miles (149.5 million kilometers) on Earth.

Believe it or not, that is what happened during the Alaskan Klondike Gold Rush in 1897-1898, when hungry miners wanted something good to eat.

Today, potato chips are the favorite snack food of Americans, who gobble down over 3 MILLION pounds (15 million kilograms) in a SINGLE day!

The potato chip has been around since 1853, when Saratoga Springs chef George Crum came up with the idea while trying to please some very finicky diners.  The diners thought the potato slices would be too thick, so Chef Crum sliced them as thin as he could.  The diners loved them, and the potato chip was invented.
