Lackland ISD continues to strive toward improving communication.

ParentSquare is a communication platform. Through the platform, you’ll be able to:

*Receive all district, school, and classroom communication via email, text, or app

*View the school and classroom calendar and RSVP for events

*Easily sign up to volunteer and/or bring items

*Securely receive important documents like report cards and other student documents

For the best ParentSquare experience, we recommend that you download and install the app.  The name is ParentSquare, and it can easily be found in your device’s app store.  If you don’t have a device, no need to worry: the platform is capable of both text and email, and you can log on via the web as well.  ParentSquare receives its contact information from the Ascender Parent Portal.  Please take a moment to make sure that you have the latest contact information on file there.

Parent Square Notifications

Under General Announcements, you can select how often you want to receive notifications for posts. Select Off, Instant or Digest notifications.

Off:no notifications about posts will be sent to you. Emergency Alerts and Notices will still be sent. School Alerts will still be sent if turned on.

Instant:you'll receive an email and/or text and/or an app notification every time a notice or message is sent.

Digest:you'll receive an email and/or text and/or an app notification once a day in the evening with all posts from that day.

The default setting is typically Digest, so that you receive all notices and post messages in one convenient notification once a day. All emergency notifications still come through instantly, and a school can override settings as needed for an urgent message.

Ugly Sweater Day at Stacey

Senior Spotlight: Cassidy Kimbrough

By: Elizabeth Note, Senior

How long have you been attending Stacey?

I was at Stacey from 2020-2021 but I moved to Japan and came back here in 2023.

What are your plans after high school?

I plan to attend the United States Air Force Academy and study Aviation. Afterwards, I want to join the Air Force as an Officer.

What extracurricular activities or organizations are you involved in?

JROTC, Varsity Girls Basketball, Student Council, and I’m an elementary school  mentor and tutor.

What is Petunias and give us a brief description of what it is you do?

Petunias is a non-profit organization that assists in homing stray animals, and helps to foster them out to families in Texas. My job in this organization is to help take care of the animals, assist with any building or other manual labor to the facility, and I help foster the animals as well. I play a big part in helping advertise and promote the organization by going to events such as golf tournaments and Fiorella Friday in Castroville to show off the animals and engage with people to educate them on how they can help with the program.

How long have you been working there?

Since March, so about 9 months now.

What inspired you to work there?

My love for animals was my main reason for working there, but I really wanted to help out the community by taking in these animals so nobody would be harmed.

What is a challenging, yet rewarding experience that you have faced while working there?

The most challenging yet rewarding experience was fostering 4 puppies for a short amount of time. The challenging part was trying to balance school, work, JROTC, and taking care of these animals. This was very rewarding because I was able to keep them safe and take good care of them while we were waiting for them to be adopted into loving homes.

While doing this, have you learned any valuable life lessons?

I learned that no matter how tired or stressed out you are, you still have responsibilities and duties that you need to complete whether you feel like it or not.

How do you engage with the community to support the shelter’s mission?

I go to events that we are involved in to talk with the community about getting involved or adopting. I also educate people on the importance of taking care of the strays in the community.

How can people who aren’t volunteering also contribute?

Even if you aren’t volunteering, you can help make donations of food, or you can help temporarily home the pets for a weekend to help give us a break to make updates to the facility or just give the animals the comfort of a loving home for a few days.

Thank you Cassidy!
